Don’t knock the value of self-awareness. It’s more rare than you realize. There’s nothing wrong with lacking talent. Be bold. Figure out what you’re good at, and pursue it. Aggressively. http://www.codinghorror.com/blog/archives/001250.html
Do what you can to make “more.” In a network the chicken-and-egg problem can hinder growth at first—there’s no audience because there is no content, and there is no content because there is no audience. Thus, the first efforts at connecting everything to everything sometimes yield thin fruit. At first, smart cards look no different from credit cards—just more inconvenient. But more is different; 20 million smart cards is a vastly different beast than 20 million credit cards. http://www.kk.org/newrules/blog/2009/04/count-on-more-being-different.php

The essence is this — if you’re developing an application, always ask yourself “am I making using computers easier?” and “will this application make someone happy, less stressed, and relieved?”. Quit making yet another “to-do list” application for the legions of deluded yucksters who mistake creating lists for working.
